We’re excited to share that one of our favorite sci-fi video games, Cyberpunk 2077, is getting adapted into a live action TV show or Movie! Developer CD Projekt Red has just announced this amazing news.

While details are still pretty scarce, we know that the studio is partnering with Anonymous Content, the same media company behind incredible series like True Detective and Mr. Robot, as well as films like The Revenant and Spotlight. It looks like this project might be a show, especially since they’ve highlighted the involvement of Anonymous Content Studios’ Head of Television Garret Kemble. He’s teaming up with Chief Creative Officer David Levine, who’s had a hand in producing some of the best TV series ever, like True Detective, Westworld, and True Blood. And let’s not forget, Levine also played a key role in the early seasons of Game of Thrones.

For those of us who loved the story in Cyberpunk 2077, this news is thrilling. After completing the game, many of us thought to ourselves this would make a great film. The game’s narrative, set in a dystopian future, is rich with a cyberpunk aesthetic and features cyberpunk apparel that pays homage to William Gibson's Neuromancer. While being immersed in Cyberpunk 2077’s world, we couldn't help but pause here and there just to admire and get wowed by the design of the worldbuilding, even down to the cyberpunk apparel of the NPCs. The immersive world of Cyberpunk 2077, filled with net runners and high-tech, low-life intrigue, captivated players despite the mixed reviews upon release due to bugs and glitches. However, the story itself is wonderfully told and has left a lasting impression for many.

Moreover, the Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners reinvigorated interest in Cyberpunk 2077, introducing a new wave of fans to its dark, vibrant world. The success of Edgerunners proved that there is a large audience out there who love the cyberpunk genre, even if they hadn’t played the game. The anime's popularity led to a significant increase in sales for Cyberpunk 2077 when it was released on Netflix, highlighting the genre's broad appeal and the potential for a successful adaptation.
